A huge thank you to Boston 250 and the partners whose support helped make this programming possible. Boston 250 is a public-private partnership between the City of Boston and private-sector partners including Meet Boston, State Street, The Boston Foundation, John Hancock, Eastern Bank, Liberty Mutual, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Vertex Pharmaceuticals, and PNC Bank.

We are grateful for their investment in neighborhood programming that gives us the opportunity to celebrate Boston’s 250th anniversary right here in Brighton—and to support the local businesses and community organizations that make Brighton special.

We were recently asked to share this on behalf of We were recently asked to share this on behalf of a Bostonian who, back in his heyday, spent plenty of time in our Brighton Main Streets district. As we read about Brendan Donovan's new memoir, we couldn't help but think that many of the stories he shares may have unfolded in some of the familiar places—past and present—that have long been part of Brighton's history.

Brendan's new memoir, HAPPYSAD: Getting Over the One That Got Away, is an honest and deeply personal story about love, heartbreak, addiction, depression, healing, and the courage it takes to finally tell the truth about your life. Filled with Boston references and a healthy dose of humor alongside some difficult moments, it's already earning praise from early readers for its vulnerability and authenticity.

It isn't easy to put yourself out there—especially when you're sharing your most vulnerable moments and life's biggest struggles. That takes courage, and we want to wish Brendan all the best as he shares his story with the world.

If you're looking to support a local author or enjoy memoirs with strong Boston roots, consider checking out HAPPYSAD.

Congratulations, Brendan, and best of luck with your book!
