It is officially #SmallBusinessMonth, and we hope everyone gets out to support the amazing local businesses that make our community so special! A huge thank you to the Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion and Boston’s Director of Small Business, Aliesha Porcena, for creating a video that highlights just a snapshot of the incredible businesses throughout our neighborhood.

Brighton Main Streets is proud to support our small business community through local events, storefront improvements, and initiatives that help entrepreneurs thrive. Small Business Month is an important reminder of the economic and cultural impact these businesses have on our neighborhood — and why shopping local matters.

🚨 Happening This Weekend:

⚾ The Allston Brighton Little League Opening Day Parade kicks off Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from Brighton Common, marching down Washington Street to McKinney Playground for opening ceremonies and a community BBQ. The event will include a special dedication honoring longtime Little League player and Boston Police Department officer Andrew O’Connor. Opening pitch honors go to Dan Cuddy of Brighton Marine.

Thank you to the many local sponsors and supporters including Los Amigos Taqueria, Jersey Mike’s Subs, Brighton Lodge of Elks #2199, Jim’s Deli & Restaurant, Devlin’s Restaurant, Dorr’s Liquor Mart, Lehman & Reen Funeral Home, Michelle Wu, Kevin Honan, Michael Moran, Will Brownsberger, Harvard University, and Allston-Brighton Kiwanis Club.

🎨 Also this weekend: the Brighton Bazaar Spring Finale takes place May 2–3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elks, featuring more than 100 artists and vendors. Learn more at The Brighton Bazaar

🥕 Sunday, May 3, marks the final Brighton Winter Farmers Market of the season at the Presentation School Foundation Community Center from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. More info at Presentation School Foundation Winter Farmers Market

It’s going to be an incredible weekend in Brighton! And don’t forget to say hello to Executive Director Kelly McGrath, who will be helping at the BBQ during Opening Day festivities and volunteering Sunday at Corrib Pub & Restaurant. We are proud to support ABLL and all of the amazing businesses and organizations that make this community shine.
