We were recently asked to share this on behalf of We were recently asked to share this on behalf of a Bostonian who, back in his heyday, spent plenty of time in our Brighton Main Streets district. As we read about Brendan Donovan's new memoir, we couldn't help but think that many of the stories he shares may have unfolded in some of the familiar places—past and present—that have long been part of Brighton's history.

Brendan's new memoir, HAPPYSAD: Getting Over the One That Got Away, is an honest and deeply personal story about love, heartbreak, addiction, depression, healing, and the courage it takes to finally tell the truth about your life. Filled with Boston references and a healthy dose of humor alongside some difficult moments, it's already earning praise from early readers for its vulnerability and authenticity.

It isn't easy to put yourself out there—especially when you're sharing your most vulnerable moments and life's biggest struggles. That takes courage, and we want to wish Brendan all the best as he shares his story with the world.

If you're looking to support a local author or enjoy memoirs with strong Boston roots, consider checking out HAPPYSAD.

Congratulations, Brendan, and best of luck with your book!

We want to thank @ratcityartsfestival and @allston We want to thank @ratcityartsfestival and @allstonvillagemainstreets for awarding our Executive Director with the Mr. Rymkus Award at the Gallery and Gala Event last night. Just one of many of the events this week for the festival. In 1917 Mr. Rymkus a resident won a contest for collecting the most dead rats winning $150.00. The award was given for Kelly’s work with helping to eradicate our rodent issue in Allston and Brighton. We are grateful to the environmental team at @isdboston for all of their help to tackle this issue and look forward to continuing the work! We want to congratulate former Executive Director for AVMS, Alex and all of the other award winners and artists showcased at last nights event at Zone 3!
