Brighton Main Streets Annual Meeting Celebrates Community, Volunteers, and Local Businesses

We want to thank everyone who braved the elements and joined us for our Annual Meeting at the Brighton Elks Lodge #2199. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so much support from our community, partner organizations, local businesses, and neighbors. We are incredibly grateful for the many people who helped make FY26 such an amazing year for Brighton Main Streets.

Congratulations to J&K Auto, our Business of the Year!

We were also proud to recognize our Volunteers of the Year, the dedicated Community Egg Hunt Committee:

  • Rita Marrochio (also our Board Vice President)

  • Maggie Moynihan

  • DJ Flaherty

  • Mara Lopez

  • Marina Lombardi

Our Neighborhood Hero Award was presented to Louis Elveus, former owner of Sweet & Comfy, in recognition of his contributions to the Brighton community.

Our Community Spirit Award was awarded to the inspiring young people of the Allston Brighton Youth Coalition.

A special thank-you to the Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, especially our Neighborhood Business Manager Abby Furey, for their continued support. We are also grateful to the Boston Main Streets Foundation and Executive Director Eric Esteves for attending and supporting our work, as well as Senator Will Brownsberger for joining us for the evening.

We were honored to have so many community organizations represented, including:

  • Friends of McKinney Park

  • Oak Square YMCA

  • The Women’s Table

  • Charlesview, Inc.

  • Boston Landing

  • Boston Medical Center – Brighton

  • Spark a Life with Art

  • The Brighton Bazaar

  • BrightonOne

  • Allston Civic Association

  • Allston Brighton CDC

  • Brighton Future Forward

  • West End House

  • Commonwealth Fidelis

  • ABHA

  • And many others

(Our apologies if we unintentionally missed anyone.)

We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to our small business community, friends, and neighbors for their ongoing support, and a huge thank-you to From Scratch for providing the delicious food for the evening.

Our work would not be possible without the commitment of so many supporters, but we especially want to recognize State Representative Mike Moran and Representative Kevin G. Honan. Your trust in our mission and your continued support have helped Brighton Main Streets make a meaningful impact in our community.

To everyone who supported our fundraising efforts, contributed throughout the year, and helped us secure grants and resources—we are tremendously grateful for your confidence in our work.

Finally, thank you to our Board of Directors, volunteers, partners, and friends for helping make FY26 such a successful year. We are excited for what’s ahead and look forward to an even stronger FY27!

— Kelly McGrath, Executive Director, Brighton Main Streets
