Construction is now underway on the restoration and preservation of Warren Hall, the historic building at 329–337 Washington Street in Brighton Center. Led by the Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation (ABCDC) and Schochet, the project will preserve and expand affordable housing while restoring one of Brighton’s most notable historic landmarks.

Originally built in 1879, Warren Hall has served many roles throughout its history, including hosting political gatherings, weddings, and even a 1967 performance by The Doors. The building currently contains 33 apartments and six commercial storefronts. Upon completion, it will offer 35 affordable residential units, including two ADA-accessible apartments, along with three commercial spaces on the ground floor.

The more than $10 million renovation will include a full interior rehabilitation, historic exterior preservation, energy-efficiency upgrades, electrification of building systems, new windows, improved ventilation, and modernized kitchens and bathrooms. The project also ensures the long-term affordability of the housing units, helping current and future residents remain in Brighton.

Residents and businesses will be temporarily relocated during construction, which is expected to take approximately 16 months. Project partners have committed to ongoing engagement with residents, businesses, and community stakeholders throughout the redevelopment process.

The restoration of Warren Hall represents a significant investment in both affordable housing and historic preservation, helping to maintain the character and accessibility of Brighton Center for generations to come.
